Greetings! My name is Maria Childrey, and I am entering my fifteenth year of teaching at Needham B. Broughton High School. I am an NC native, and have spent most of my years in Raleigh. After graduating from Sanderson High School, I attended UNC-Chapel Hill as a member of the first class of NC Teaching Fellows. I earned a BA in Secondary Math Education. After graduation I taught math for ten years at Cary High School. I stayed at home with my young children for four years, and tutored many students during that time. In 2006, I joined the staff at BHS. In addition to teaching math, I am currently serving as a Junior Class Advisor, Service Club Advisor, National Honor Society Advisor, Mentor Coordinator, and Gradpoint Coordinator. I love to attend extra-curricular events to support our talented BHS students!
I am married to Tom, and am the busy mom of three daughters, two of whom have graduated from Broughton. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling (particularly to the beach!), walking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

TUTORING:
During remote learning during Plan B Transition, tutoring is held each day from 1:00-2:00pm. When we return to the building (hopefully sooner than later!), students may also receive help during lunch. If students need additional help, they should visit the W.E.L.L. (free tutoring), schedule another time with Mrs. Childrey (please give advance notice), or seek out a private tutor.
